In 1983 the Civil Engineer VASILIOS SERGIANNIDIS established the company PRECONSTRUCTA S.A. Since 1974 he has founded a series of small-sized companies, which dealt with the construction of buildings and other works requiring prefabricated structural elements. Absorbing the staff of these companies, the company entered resolutely into the field of construction from industrially produced precast concrete units, realising an initial investment that was partially covered by state financing and loans from the Hellenic Industrial Development Bank (ETBA).
Initially in 1983 the roofed area of the company’s plants covered an area of approximately 10.000m2. This area is used for the production of precast structural elements of reinforced and prestressed concrete for the erection of buildings with large roof openings, such as industrial buildings or warehouses. During time the company entered new fields of the production of precast concrete units. This led in 1992 to the northward extension of its plants, which covers an area of 3.000m². The investment at a total of 350.000.000 Drachmas was all self-financed. In this extension centrifugal units produce poles from reinforced and prestressed concrete, used for lighting and electric power conveyance. Since June 1992, it has been under full operation, producing up to 25.000 units annually. In 1995 a second extension (southward, at a total area of 2.000m2) took place, used for the production of prefabricated transportable cells from reinforced concrete.
